Luna, Monk and Sol are making the Chinese lanterns for the party the Moonkys are organising tonight. But Broz and Lily are laughing at them because they will present a real singing performance. Much better than these stupid Chinese lanterns ! Without hesitating Sol announces that he will play the grate-ar. The only thing to do is go and get one at the manor. No sooner said than done the three little ones go to the big house looking for the mysterious instrument in the kitchen of the manor …
Btw : Grate-ar is played by scratching a piece of wood on the out-sticking parts of what humans generally call a cheese grater.
THE MUSICAL REED
Sol is playing music by scratching a toothpick on us Grate-ar, to the greatest fun of Monk and Luna. The latter declares that she would also like to play an instrument to accompany the grate-ar. Luna asks Monk and Sol to get a reed at the river. The two little friends will finally bring it back after facing mud, Karnax and Kasimolo, and a voracious pike, who fails swallowing Sol’s grate-ar thanks to the help of a music-loving frog.
THE SECRET INSTRUMENT
While Luna and Sol are playing a boisterous jam of Grate-ar and flute under the enthusiastic applause of Monk, the three of them are once again sarcastically laughed at by Broz and Lily. Monk is furious and wants to shut the older ones up. He pretends he’ll be the sensation of the night when he will play his wonderful instrument. Accompanied by the grate-ar and the flute. Everyone is curious. Now Monk must find this wonderful instrument. He tries anything that can produce a sound, causes catastrophes and finally confesses to Doltoo that this instrument doesn’t exist and he has no idea how to make one. Then Doltoo starts hitting the surface of the rose water bath, in which she was cleaning her scarf. That’s the idea !
